A man called his wife with excitement in his voice. “Honey, I’ve been invited to go fishing out of town with my boss for a week! This could be a fantastic opportunity for a promotion. Can you please pack enough clothes for the week, get my rod and tackle box ready, and don’t forget to pack my new blue silk pajamas?”
The wife felt a slight twinge of suspicion but dismissed it, wanting to support her husband. After all, she wanted him to succeed. So, she carefully followed his instructions, packing everything he requested, including the blue silk pajamas.
A week later, the husband returned home, looking a bit tired but undeniably pleased with himself. The wife was eager to hear all about the trip. She bombarded him with questions: how it was, whether he caught any fish, and what adventures he had.
“Yes, I caught plenty—lots of salmon, bluegill, and even a few swordfish!” he replied, a proud grin on his face. But then, with a puzzled expression, he added, “But why didn’t you pack my blue silk pajamas?”
The wife smirked, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Oh, I did! They were in your fishing box.”
The Party Conversation
At a lively party, a doctor and a lawyer found themselves chatting, trying to unwind and enjoy the evening. However, every few minutes, someone would interrupt the doctor with various medical complaints:
“Can you take a look at this rash?”
“My back’s been killing me…”
“Does this mole look unusual?”
After an hour of unsolicited check-ups, the doctor finally sighed and turned to the lawyer. “How do you deal with people asking for free legal advice outside of work?”
The lawyer smirked, clearly amused. “Simple. I give them advice… then I mail them a bill.”
The doctor blinked, taken aback. “You’re joking.”
“Not even a little,” the lawyer replied, chuckling.
Feeling inspired—and a bit vengeful—the doctor decided to take a page from the lawyer’s book. The next day, he meticulously wrote up bills for everyone who had interrupted him at the party, detailing their “consultation” fees.
As he headed to the mailbox to send them off, he noticed something already waiting for him inside.
A bill.
