Donahue was the host of The Phil Donahue Show. Many people undoubtedly remember him on that show, as he hosted it for some three decades. During that time, more than 6000 episodes took place and some of the best-known individuals were on the show.
Even though Donahue was involved in entertainment in the 1950s, he wouldn’t get started with his talk show until 1967. It was based in Dayton, Ohio but would eventually move to Chicago. He was known for getting the audience involved.
He did more than just interview celebrities, he would get to the heart of the social issues that were taking place in the world around us. It was daytime television at its best.
