We were wondering about how he chooses the personalities and attributes of his fruit characters, and if any of them are based on individuals he knows in real life. “Apple is actually me, though sometimes slightly exaggerated,” the artist explained. “The majority of the characters are a mix of people I’ve encountered in real life, and many of the stories are based on events or experiences from my own life. Except for Snail, who is the story’s ‘villain’ but has a nice core. “He’s a dark reality check disguised as a snail.”

When we talked about hurdles and creative blocks, Simon said that he doesn’t think the major problem is creative blockages because he writes down his ideas right away and thus has a glut of ideas saved so that he can use them when he’s not feeling creative. “The challenging part is that I strive to make time to sketch a comic every day under whatever conditions. As we all know, life is often challenging, but I always give it my all so that at the end of the day, I have a new comic for my amazing followers. Of course, I strive to maintain consistency in quality, which I believe is more essential than number.
