Congressman Introduces Bill to Put Donald Trump on $100 Bill

Republican Representative Brandon Gill of Texas has recently introduced a bill that would put President Donald Trump on the $100 bill, replacing Benjamin Franklin in the process.

Gill’s legislation is titled the Golden Age Act of 2025 — a clear reference to Trump’s longtime allegation that his administration will help usher in the next “Golden Age of America.”

If this bill is passed, then every single $100 bill would have Trump’s face on it.

The legislation is being co-sponsored by Republican Representative Troy Nehls, also from Texas.

Gill, who is a first-time Representative, has opened up in a statement about why he is pushing for this bill to be passed.

“There has been no one who has done more to bring America into the golden age than President Trump,” Gill said.

“Featuring him on the $100 bill is a small way to honor all he will accomplish these next four years.”

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Gill shared a photo of Trump’s official second-term portrait on a $100 bill.

“Let’s make history,” he wrote.

If this bill is passed, then the Treasury Secretary would have to release a design by December 31, 2026, for the public to see.

Then, after December 31, 2028, every single $100 bill would have to feature Trump’s face.

Of course, there’s a very low chance this bill will be passed — especially as there are already laws in place to keep this from happening.

Current laws prohibit living people from being featured on any form of U.S. currency.

Therefore, Trump cannot have his photo on any bills or coins.

However, this hasn’t seemed to stop Gill and Nehls — or other Republicans in Congress.

Gill also opened up about why he was pushing for Trump to have his photo on the $100 bill.

“President Trump could be enjoying his golden years golfing and spending time with his family,” Gill said.

“Instead, he took a bullet for this country and is now working overtime to secure our border, fix our uneven trade relationship with the rest of the world, make America energy independent again, and put America first by ending useless foreign aid.”

After all, only a few days before Gill’s announcement, Republican Representative Joe Wilson, of South Carolina, revealed that he was going to prepare a bill that would push for Trump to be on a new $250 bill.

In a post on X, Wilson wrote, “Grateful to announce that I am drafting legislation to direct the Bureau of Graving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring Donald J. Trump.”

He also posted a mockup of what this bill would look like, similar to Gill’s own $100 post.

According to Wilson, he would like to create a $250 bill with Trump’s face on it to honor Trump for all that he’s done for the U.S. economy.

Of course, in the process of this praise, the GOP member also took the time to blast former President Joe Biden.

“Bidenflation has destroyed the economy forcing American families to carry more cash.

Most valuable bill for most valuable President,” Wilson wrote.

The last time the U.S. changed who appeared on a bill was in 1929.

Previously, former President Grover Cleveland was on the $20 bill.

However, in 1929, former President Andrew Jackson took his place on the banknote.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Franklin, one of America’s founding fathers, has been featured on the $100 bill since 1914 — the first time the $100 banknote was created by the Federal Reserve.

So far, various presidents have appeared on U.S. banknotes.

For example, George Washington is on the $1 bill, Thomas Jefferson is on the $2 banknote, and Abraham Lincoln is on the $5 bill.

Jackson appeared on the $20 bill after 1929, while Ulysses S. Grant is on the $50 banknote.

There has always been talk about changing up U.S. banknotes and currencies — and it often is made with severe criticism.

Many Americans aren’t looking for their coins and bills to change, especially because so many see their currencies as a long-lasting American tradition.

Back in 2016, President Barack Obama first proposed the idea of putting Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill — and thereby replacing Andrew Jackson.

Tubman is best known for being an escaped slave who helped countless slaves escape through the Underground Railroad.

However, this idea didn’t go far.

When Trump came into office after Obama in 2016, he put this proposal on hold.

Putting Trump on Mount Rushmore

This isn’t the first time Republican members of Congress have created rather interesting bills that appear to be designed to greatly flatter Trump.

In late January, Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna, from Florida, created a bill that would put Trump on Mount Rushmore.

If passed, this legislation would allow a likeness of Trump to be carved on Mount Rushmore alongside Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.

On X, Luna claimed that she created this bill to help highlight Trump’s “remarkable accomplishments for our country and the success he will continue to deliver deserve the highest recognition and honor on this iconic national monument.”

Though this bill — to put Trump on Mount Rushmore — may seem insane to some people, this actually isn’t the first time that Congress has sought to add another president to the national landmark.

In fact, back in 1999, Congress considered adding President Ronald Reagan to Mount Rushmore. However, this idea was eventually rejected.

Republicans Rally Around Putting Trump on the $100 Bill

While various liberals have attacked the idea of putting the president on the $100 bill, conservatives have applauded the idea.

Even some Republican Congress members have stated that they would like to see this bill passed.

Perhaps most notably, Republican Representative Lauren Boebert, of Colorado, publicly supported the idea on X.

She wrote, “Add me as a co-sponsor!”

Of course, it’s highly unlikely that this bill will be passed.

While many liberals hate the idea, many independents and even conservatives aren’t thrilled with it, especially as many people continue to want to see Benjamin Franklin on their $100 bills.

These Americans are all about tradition — and even some who like Trump don’t want to change this longstanding American bill.

Allowing Trump to Run for a Third Term

Since Trump has reentered the White House for his second term — after a stunning victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris — many Republicans in Congress have been ushering in bills to further cement Trump’s legacy.

Legislation to add Trump to multiple bills, as well as to Mount Rushmore, are examples of this.

However, these bills have quickly become incredibly controversial — especially as critics have pointed out that there are real problems in the country that they feel Congress should be working on instead.

Of course, these bills are nowhere near as controversial as the bill that was made to allow Trump to run again, for a third term.

This proposal was introduced in January and would allow Trump to run one more time, for a third term in the White House.

The bill would allow any president this opportunity — but only those who didn’t serve two consecutive terms.

Therefore, former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush wouldn’t be able to run again.

As former President Joe Biden was only a one-term president, he would have a chance to return to the White House three more times, theoretically.

Of course, it’s clear that this proposal was designed fully for Trump.

Trump and former President Grover Cleveland are the only two who have ever served nonconsecutive terms as president.

This bill’s introduction quickly caused quite a lot of outrage online, from Constitutionalists to liberals.

It’s worth noting that it’s a long shot that this proposal will ever be passed, as the bill would need two-thirds of Congress — both the House and the Senate — to be accepted.

Plus, at least 38 states would have to ratify the proposal before it could ever be added to the U.S. Constitution.

Other Interesting Trump Bills

There are other rather interesting bills that have to do with Trump that some Republican members of Congress are currently pushing.

Earlier this year, Republican Representative Claudia Tenney, of New York, introduced a bill that would make Trump’s birthday, June 14, a federal holiday.

According to Tenney, this honor would “recognize him as the founder of America’s Golden Age.”

Of course, many people have had issues with this idea, as well.

Liberals have called it crazy.

Meanwhile, Republican Representative Darrell Issa, of California, has revealed that he will be nominating the president for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Issa didn’t explicitly explain why he was nominating Trump.

However, the president has long wanted to win this prestigious award.

Therefore, many have claimed that Trump will be happy to hear about Issa’s idea.

Clearly, many GOP members of Congress are trying to pass bills that flatter Trump.

These moves have been met with severe criticism from liberals and independents — though it doesn’t appear as if any of these detractors have convinced these members of Congress to stop floating these bills.
