20 Hilarious Bizarro Comics Are Proof That Humor Is The Best Therapy
Bizarro is a single-panel comic strip created by artist Dan Piraro that has appeared in over 360 newspapers and publications since its debut in 1985.
One of the traditional cartoonists, Piraro, has moved to web-based comics, a whole new league in which the competition is intense and most artists can barely make ends meet at even the most basic of their trades.
Piraro is an incredibly prolific artist who hopes to create a new comic book every day of the year. He lives somewhere in Mexico with his cherished wife, whom he calls his “Olive Oyl.” His take on the silliness and absurdity of contemporary life is meant to provoke thought as much as laughter.
His bio describes his one-pane jewels as a “unique blend of clever puns, surreal imagery, and social commentary.” In actuality, Dan Piraro would be the illegitimate child of Salvador Dali, Garry Trudeau, and Oscar Wilde.
Although he has created thousands of comics with a wide range of subjects, therapy is the only topic covered on this list. In addition, Piraro frequently incorporates “secret symbols” into his comics; the number of one such symbol is shown directly above his signature. The symbols “K2” (referring to his sons Krelspeth and Krapuzar) should be found, along with an eyeball (the eyeball of observation), a piece of cake (the cake of opportunity), a rabbit (the bunny of exuberance), an alien in a spaceship (the flying saucer of possibility), a crown (the Crown of Power), a stick of dynamite (the Dynamite of Unintended Consequences), a shoe (the Lost Moccasin), an arrow (the Arrow of Vulnerability), a tail fish (the Fish of Humility), and an upside-down bird (the Inverted Bird).
