Many artists begin their artistic careers as young as childhood, but Colombian illustrator Andres Colmenares began his career later in life.
“It’s strange, but my human and animal drawings occasionally shock people,” the artist remarked. “I’ve done illustrations that dealt with religion or politics, and it was a lot of fun. As a result, I try to stay away from both. In any case, they’re not my favourite subjects for cute drawings.”
Andres remained humble when asked why he feels Wawawiwa animal cartoons draw so much attention. “I’m not sure; I suppose people appreciate things that provide them with a sense of escape from reality, and that’s what I strive to achieve with Wawawiwa: provide a space where people can have a good time while forgetting about their problems.”
